With respect to the size of a dental implant there are 2 major categories. There is the traditional dental implant and the mini dental implant.
A Traditional Dental Implant is Bigger than a Mini Dental Implant
In Costa Rica they do not use too many mini dental implants for permanent long term dental cases. Mini dental implants have a lot of advantages but in a major of cases are just not strong enough to be dependable for a long period of time.
In Costa Rica they use mini dental implants for 2 types of dental.
To support full dentures.
To support temporary fixed bridges for full mouth restoration. Here mini dental implants are only used for 4-6 months. The mini dental implants are used between trips to support a "temporary" fixed bridge.
